Cogent releases appointment scheduling capabilities for Visiship customers. The new capabilities will allow clients to manage loading and unloading activity at their facilities. Carriers can schedule new or change existing appointments and Visiship coordinates the rest. Facility personnel can view each day’s schedule with details on carriers arriving by time slot and they can record key events such in/out gate and start/end times.

Shell Rolls Out Tankworks to New Ethanol Terminal |

Shell Oil’s Motiva unit has added the Providence, RI terminal to their Tankworks sites. Providence is receiving rail shipments of ethanol for customers and will use Cogent’s Tankworks system to manage the rail process and to deliver information services to customers. The web-based system provides inventory and transaction status and reports.

The analysis detailed a 10% freight savings opportunity through optimal carrier selection using the company’s existing rates. The chemical shipper has implemented Visiship RateSmart across all modes for its customer service reps and plants to use for rating and carrier selection. Visiship is driving freight costs down and is able to track carrier selection for each shipment, including deviations from the best choice. |
